These days I work as much as I used to be off and I'm off as much as I used to work. I think I finally got it right. Everybody reading this message, please, take care of yourselves. Doug Perry says we're getting older but we're still dangerous. You can't stay dangerous if you don't take care of yourself. |

I JUST HOPE SENIOR LEADERSHIP WILL UNDERSTAND THE FOCUS IS "NOT A SELF-SERVING CAREER TOOL" BUT AN ABSOLUTE COMMITMENT... TO DO WHAT NO OTHERS CAN DO OR ARE WILLING TO DO! ACCOMPLISH THE MISSION!!! NO MATTER WHAT THE OBSTACLE... SEEMS THE HIGHER IN RANK ONE ACHIEVES THE QUICKER THEY LOSE SIGHT OF THIS....THEN THEY START FOCUSING ON SOCIAL ENGINEERING, THIS IS WHERE THE STANDARDS GO OUT THE WINDOW....I HAVE ALWAYS SAID "WE ARE ONLY AS STRONG AS OUR WEAKEST LINK" SOMEONE HAS TO STAND UP AND SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! AT SOME POINT A MAN WILL HAVE TO GO HAND TO HAND, FACE TO FACE, TO KILL THE ENEMY ON HIS OWN HOMELAND GROUND. WOULD YOU RISK THE OUTCOME ON A LESS QUALIFIED, LESS TRAINED AND CERTAINLY LESS AGGRESSIVE CANDIDATE TO DECIDE THE OUT COME OF A CONFLICT, I HOPE "NOT".....I REALLY HOPE NOT……. JIM OWENS |
Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Jim Regan Message: Regret that I won't be able to attend the dedication. As with lots of you other guys, I have fond memories of my tour of duty at MRC, 2nd Ranger Co. As most know, started out in Patrolling committee 'til a "windy" airborne op.Got put out of an L-20 as the RED SMOKE popped on the DZ!!! Davenport was the Jump Master and McMahon was the DZSO! Ended up in Operations. Still walked the hills at least once or twice a cycle, as well as my boss Major Wandke, and partner in crime, Cpt. Mike Jaussaud. We rotated so that the 3 shop was always covered. Those were the days of Cols. Shali & Yon. Great memories. I look forward to the annual CCO and Open House(am working hard to keep the ol' pickumup on the road on the way up there!)Take care, best to all. Jim RLTW/L&P |
Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: John Tompkins Message: I was in B Co from 1991-1995. My fist Co Cmdr & 1sg was JD McKirby & John Edmund's. Jack Donovan & Luis Palacious were Bn Cmdr/Csm. John Edmund's became Csm. Kevin Connell then became my 1sg. Had the above mentioned hereos plus guys like All Brazier, Tony Nunley, Joe Nowack in A Co w/me. Mike Ramsey & Tom Wilburn were in B Co then.I have since forgotten some of the other great NCO's & officer's who were their then. (Sorry if I left any of you other great guys out) I left in 1995 just as the desert phase was closing. Went on to take a 1sg job with the 3/327 in Fort Campbell. Returned to RTB in 1998. Worked with Bobby idea!? & Csm's Joe Nethkin & Mike Kelso. Was assigned 4th RTB's HHC 1sg until knee surgery took me off jump status. Worked a pouge job for another year until Gen Shinsecki pissed me off w/the beret fiasco. Retie 41 days before 9-11. Am living mostly off the grid (except this android phone) in the WVA mountains. Have a place on easily defendable terrain with a nearby water source & off any major lines of drift. Could someone update me about this girly thing about going to Ranger Training? What, when & certainly whose fuc*#+# up idea ? RLTW |
