SSG Bob Williams is inducted into the Distinguished Member of the Brigade for his outstanding contributions and distinguished service to the United States Army and the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade during his career. SSG Williams demonstrates a lifetime of conspicuous service to his country, compassion for his brother in arms and selfless dedication to Ranger ideals.
He served admirably in the 2nd Ranger Battalion where his mission oriented and never quit attitude were always evident. Ranger Williams also served in 2nd Ranger Company at Camp Merrill where his impact on training Ranger students was immediate and highly positive. Ranger Williams could always be relied on to give his best. He was selected as The School Brigade (TSB) NCO of the 1st quarter in 1985.
Upon leaving active service, Ranger Williams' desire to server others and influence youth, led to an on going 23-year career as a professional educator. He instituted and coached the first ever wrestling teams in Union County (GA) Middle and High Schools.
Ever a Ranger at heart, he is a charter member of the U.S. Mountain Ranger Association (USMRA). Ranger Williams has served as the Internet website manager since the organization's inception and is the USMRA's unquestioned technology expert. He spearheads the Fallen Ranger Memorial project and serves as association secretary. Ranger Williams' life is about being a positive role model for youth and always placing others before himself. His actions are a credit to the US Army, Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade.
